Utah’s Hogle Zoo is a Utah treasure.  Located at the mouth of Emigration Canyon since 1931, the Zoo is one of the top visited attractions in the state.  It’s natural hillside terrain and meandering tree-covered pathways enhance your experience as you discover the wonders of the natural world. With nearly 1,000 animals to visit, the splendor of the animal kingdom is yours to behold.

New in 2012 is Rocky Shores! Mimicking the Northwest Pacific coastline, this extensive multi-animal wonderland spotlights polar bear, grizzlies, sea lions, seals, river otters and bald eagles, and includes unprecedented viewing of the animals, including underwater.

Guest amenities include the popular Zoofari Express train ride, the new Conservation Carousel which features 42 hand-carved, exotic animals, yummy treats at four popular concession areas and our award-winning gift shop, Wild Zootique.

Open 363 days a year, the Zoo has something for everyone that will keep you entertained and busy - learning and exploring.

Visit the new Asian Highlands, a re-creation of a Himalayan village featuring five endangered Asian cat species, and visit Elephant Encounter - where the Serengeti meets Salt Lake City - and spotlights African elephants and white rhinoceros.

Guest amenities include:

Zoofari Express
The Conservation Carousel

Additional Details

While visiting Hogle Zoo you'll also enjoy:

Zoofari Express:
A Hogle Zoo institution for over six decades, a visit to the Zoo isn’t complete until you ride the train.  The train loops around Discovery Land and right through the exhibit of a few of the Zoo’s wilder residents – two American bison!  The train operates weather permitting.

The Conservation Carousel:
Take a spin on 42 threatened or endangered exotic animals, each beautifully hand-carved in the style of an authentic carousel created in the early 20th century.  It also promises to enrich guests’ understanding of Hogle Zoo’s role in addressing global threats to the natural world.  A portion of all ticket sales go toward the Zoo’s ongoing conservation efforts both locally and globally.  Open all year.

Wild Zootique:
Take a memory home after a thrilling day at the Zoo by visiting the Zoo’s expansive and award-winning gift shop.  Open all year.

The Beastro:
Satisfy a beast of an appetite with a menu full of satisfying goodies, including hamburgers, hot dogs, corn dogs, popcorn, chicken sandwiches, fries, Meadow Gold ice cream and a full array of Coca-Cola products.  Open all year.

Oasis Café:
Pick up a refreshing treat of sno-cones, Dippin Dots, homemade fudge, Coca-Cola products and other treats and relax on the deck overlooking Emigration Creek.  Centrally located in Oasis Plaza, near the carousel.

Bear Grotto:
Pizza, yummy snacks, and thirst-quenching beverages will make your journey through the Zoo more bearable.

Cat Wok Café:
Sample the exotic cuisine of the Far East such as Asian rice dishes, along with American favorites including hot dogs, corn dogs, and ice cream.  Comfortable, shaded seating await you.  Located in Asian Highlands.
